Air Suvidha 2.0: Mandatory Health Form for International India Arrivals

Air Suvidha 2.0: Mandatory Health Form for International India Arrivals

If you have a flight booked to India  or you're planning one there is one new step you cannot afford to miss. As of 25 June 2026, the Government of India has made it mandatory for every international passenger arriving in India to complete the Air Suvidha 2.0 health self-declaration form before they travel. This applies to every traveller: Indian citizens returning home, NRIs, OCI cardholders, and foreign nationals alike.

Here at Oceans Travel, keeping our customers informed and travel-ready is at the heart of everything we do. So we've put together this complete, up-to-date guide to Air Suvidha 2.0 what it is, why it's been introduced, how to fill it in, and what happens if you don't.

What Is Air Suvidha 2.0?

Air Suvidha 2.0 is an upgraded digital health self-declaration portal launched by India's Ministry of Civil Aviation, in collaboration with Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) and the Directorate General of Health Services under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. It is a contactless, fully online system that replaces paper-based forms and allows health authorities to screen arriving passengers quickly and efficiently before they even land.

The original Air Suvidha portal was first introduced in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic and was phased out in 2023 as restrictions eased. It has now returned in a significantly upgraded form Air Suvidha 2.0 designed not just for COVID management but as a permanent, adaptable public health surveillance infrastructure at Indian airports.

Why Has India Brought It Back?

The reintroduction of Air Suvidha 2.0 is directly linked to the World Health Organization declaring the Ebola (Bundibugyo virus) outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Uganda a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) in May 2026. The Bundibugyo strain is an Ebola-related viral haemorrhagic fever with historically high case fatality rates and, critically, no approved vaccines or specific treatments currently available.

India has taken swift, precautionary action to protect its population and prevent any imported cases from entering the country. The Air Suvidha 2.0 system allows health officials at airports to instantly assess which passengers may have been exposed and route them for further screening where necessary. The form focuses on your 21-day travel history so if you have visited or transited through the DRC, Uganda, or South Sudan recently, expect additional checks on arrival.

Importantly, the form is mandatory for everyone not just those coming from affected regions. This ensures no gaps in India's surveillance net.

Who Needs to Fill in the Air Suvidha 2.0 Form?

The short answer: everyone flying into India internationally. It does not matter where you are flying from, which airline you are travelling with, or what nationality your passport is. The following passengers are all required to complete it:

  • Indian citizens returning from abroad
  • Non-Resident Indians (NRIs)
  • Overseas Citizens of India (OCI cardholders)
  • Foreign nationals visiting India for tourism, business, education, or any other purpose
  • Passengers transiting through India on an international journey

If you are an OCI cardholder, note that you are required to complete both the Air Suvidha 2.0 health declaration and the standard digital disembarkation (e-Arrival) form. Make sure you allow time for both before your departure.

What Information Do You Need to Provide?

The form itself is straightforward and should take most travellers only a few minutes to complete. You will be asked to provide:

  • Full name and nationality
  • Passport number and details
  • Flight number and airline
  • Departure city and date
  • Arrival date and destination airport in India
  • Your travel history for the previous 21 days (countries visited or transited through)
  • Any potential exposure to Ebola or related symptoms
  • Contact details for health follow-up if required

All information must be accurate. Providing false or incomplete information could result in delays at immigration, enhanced screening, or referral for medical evaluation on arrival.

When Should You Complete the Form?

The Air Suvidha 2.0 Self-Declaration Form can be completed up to 24 hours before your scheduled arrival in India. The Ministry of Civil Aviation strongly recommends completing it before you board ideally at the same time as your web check-in. This ensures smoother processing through health and immigration checks when you land.

Airlines are responsible for verifying that passengers have completed the form during check-in, so it is wise to have your submission confirmation ready on your phone or printed out before you reach the airport.

Where Do You Fill It In?

The official Air Suvidha 2.0 portal is hosted by the Government of India at:

airsuvidha.civilaviation.gov.in

This is the only official portal. The form is completely free of charge. Be cautious of any third-party websites asking you to pay a fee to complete the Air Suvidha form these are not official and should be avoided.

What Happens If You Don't Fill It In?

Non-compliance is not advisable. Passengers who have not completed the form may face:

  • Delays and hold-ups at immigration clearance
  • Enhanced screening and additional questioning on arrival
  • Referral to public health officers for medical assessment
  • Potential refusal of boarding by your airline, since airlines are responsible for checking compliance at check-in

For travellers with recent travel history to high-risk regions (DRC, Uganda, South Sudan), the consequences of non-compliance are more significant and could include extended health assessment and isolation procedures.
