Qatar Airways to expand Indian network

Qatar Airways is set to expand its Indian network with a 20 percent increase in frequency covering the cities of Delhi, Cochin and Amritsar from this month.

Qatar Airways has announced an increase in the number of flights to Delhi, Cochin and Amritsar.Scheduled flights to the northern Indian city of Amritsar will be launched on October 11 ahead of Diwali, the religious festival of lights.

Two weeks later, beginning October 25, the idyllic beach destination of Goa will be added to Qatar Airways' growing route network in India in preparation for the inbound winter holiday traffic.

As of today, Qatar has also increased flights to the southern city of Cochin, previously served daily, with an extra four flights a week. From November 5, a further two will be added.

From October 31, Qatar Airways will double the number of flights between its Doha hub and Delhi, by adding an additional daily flight. According to the airline, India is the single biggest market for Qatar Airways, by the number of destinations served - 11 in total.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 
Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker said: "Since last year and taking into account the new upcoming frequencies, we will have stepped up capacity to India from 56 to 88 services a week, which represents a remarkable 57% increase in frequency to and from India."

"Amritsar, in the heart of Punjab State, is home to the Golden Temple – the spiritual and cultural centre of the Sikh religion. By bringing forward the launch date, we are able to meet the huge demand anticipated in time for the festive Diwali holidays celebrated by devotees of many religions during October.
